Like most of the priests at Lalibela who display religious objects for visitors, this one wore sunglasses to protect his eyes from flash photography. I cropped this photo closely for two reasons.

Like most of the priests at Lalibela who display religious objects for visitors, this one wore sunglasses to protect his eyes from flash photography. I cropped this photo closely for two reasons. First, I wanted to show the cross in as much detail as possible without cropping the priest out of the image. Second, unlike other settings where paintings or parts of the rock-hewn church were visible in the background, this venue offered only the blue-green curtain. 13th century church of Bet Denagil (I think), Lalibela, Ethiopia.
