Photo 20.3 Debris flow No. 35 (for location see Fig. 20.1) covers somewhat more than 1 km2. Ca. 20 million m3 of debris consisting of vertic clays and a large amount of rock fragments of all sizes, moved from the foot of the Tertiary basalts on the Tsili ridge, passed over the conspicuous elongated Amba Aradam Sandstone cliff, and filled up a large valley in the Antalo limestone landscape in the foreground. After Moeyersons et al. (2008)
Photo 20.4 Isolated Amba Aradam sandstone slab (indicated by yellow arrow) in front of Medayq Ridge. This slab rests on dark-coloured swelling clays, transported by a debris flow (No. 20 on Fig. 20.1) from above the cliff. During the downslope movement, the part of the cliff part underwent a reversed slope rotation. After Moeyersons et al. (2008)
