Photo 31.1 Filippo Marazzani was an Italian diplomat who travelled Ethiopia and photographed the town of Abiy Addi in 1916 (©IGMI, exact date unknown). The historical centre of the town is at the foot of the escarpment that is the first to be crossed when trekking to the Tembien highlands, located at the back (Photo Jan Nyssen, 28/3/2008)
