Th is image from a manuscript in Paris exactly replicates the scene described by Nonnosus when the negus at Axum received him there ca. 530. Th ese are the only known reports of a royal pavillion of this kind, and the great distance in space and time between the two events in which they appear preclude any direct connection, but ancient traditions in both places may have had some common link.
