What the record shows
Like most of the priests at Lalibela who display religious objects for visitors, this one wore sunglasses to protect his eyes from flash photography. I cropped this photo closely for two reasons. First, I wanted to show the cross in as much detail as possible without cropping the priest out of the image. Second, unlike other settings where paintings or parts of the rock-hewn church were visible in the background, this venue offered only the blue-green curtain. 13th century church of Bet Denagil (I think), Lalibela, Ethiopia.
