What the record shows
St. George and the Dragon, Lalibela, Ethiopia (3231393251). Catalogued on Wikimedia Commons under Icons of Ethiopia. The file description records: A ray of sun penetrates the dark interior of a 13th century rock-cut church to illuminate a painting of St. George slaying the dragon. St. George is Ethiopia's patron saint. The figure directly in front of the gallant horse's head personifies Ethiopia. If the painting were better lighted, you would be able to see that Ethiopia has climbed a tree and is clinging to the trunk for safety, presumably to escape the dragon Photograph credited to A. Davey from Where I Live Now: Pacific Northwest.
