What the printed source records

14 Aksum, the upper part of Stela 3, 1993. The body of the stela is carved in representation of a multi-storeyed building with horizontal beams, monkey-heads and windows. In the hollow at the apex there was formerly a metal plaque, held in place by iron rods which still survive.
