What the record shows

An early 18th-century Ethiopian double diptych icon pendant of wood, tempera pigment, and string (9.5 x 15.2 x 14 cm open), from the Central and Northern Highlands, attributed to the Amhara or Tigrinya peoples. Its panels carry Christian imagery including the Virgin Mary, Christ, the Crucifixion, and Saint George on horseback. Acquired through the Rogers Fund, 1997 (1997.81.1).
