What the record shows

A late 17th-century Amhara icon triptych of wood, tempera, and cord from the southern Lake Tana region of Ethiopia (70 x 56.3 x 12.1 cm on mount), depicting the monastic leader Ewosṭatewos with eight of his disciples. The Met attributes it to a Northern Highlands artist; acquired through the Louis V. Bell Fund, 2006 (2006.98).
