What this record describes
Painting on fol. 70v of Brown University, Digital Library Ethiopic Collection, Providence, RI, 14 (DL-E (Brown) 14), dated 18th century. The scene is recorded (with qualification) by the Princeton Ethiopian, Eritrean, and Egyptian Miracles of Mary project (PEMM) as "1. ʾAnǝsṭāsyos standing praying in a church before the icon of the Virgin and Child; 2. ʾAnǝsṭāsyos lying before St Mary, who together with the Child is extending her hand towards him". PEMM links it to the story "The deacon's prayer that contained five times "Rejoice!" [tafassehiyat].".
