What the catalogue identifies
An Ethiopian manuscript containing: ff.1r- 23v. The manuscript is largely composed of treatises that are associated with divination. Awda nagaśt, Rules concerning divination, Amharic treatise on the creation of the world. It consists of 30 chapters, each surrounded by 15 lines or sentences containing predictions on various topics. Chapter 28 is given as an example: ፳፰ በእንተ፡ ፍርሃት። ስም፡ ወርኅ፡ ዕለት። ፩ ዘትፈርህ፡ እምእግዚአብሔር፡ ሰአል። ፪ ዘሀለይከ፡ ይትፌጸም፡ ለከ። ፫ ሶበ፡ ተሐርስ፡ ይሤኒ፡ ለከ። ፬ ዘጥፍዐተ፡ ሀገር፡ ኢይጠፍዕ፡ ፍሥሕ፡ ይመጽእ። ፭ ሶበ፡ ትሠይጥ፡ ወትሣየጥ፡ ሠናይ፡ ለከ። ፮ ዘጠፍአከ፡ ሰብእ፡ ጸላዕትከ፡ ወስዶ፡ ወድኅረ፡ ትረክብ። ፯ ዘእኩየ፡ ትሄሊ፡ ምንተኒ፡ ኢይመጽአከ። ፰ ዘክህነት፡ ቅድመ፡ ይጸንዐከ፡ ድኅረ፡ ትረክብ። ፱ ዘፍቅር፡ ኅሥሥ፡ ቅድመ፡ ኵሉ፡ ያፈቅረከ፡ ፲ ዘፍኖት፡ ሑር፡ ሠናየ፡ ተአቱ፡ ወትረክብ፡ ዘሀለይከ። ፲ወ፩ ዘአንበርከ፡ ንዋየ፡ ሰብእ፡ አጥፍኦ፡ ኢትድክም። ፲ወ፪ ሶበ፡ ትደዊ፡ ኢተሐዩ፡ ወኢትረክብ፡ ፈውሰ። ፲ወ፫ ወልደ፡ አልብከ፡ ኢትወልድ። ፲ወ፬ ዘትፈቱ፡ ንዋየ፡ ትረክብ። ፲ወ፭ ዘፈኖከ፡ ክታብ፡ ይትመየጥ፡ በድኅኖ።
